Soul’s Flight (Autumn 2019 Game Jam)

Born of the game jam theme ‘journey’, Soul’s Flight gives the player control of the bird Soul. In the game, Soul travels through the seasons in an endless effort to reconnect with her lost group.

Soul’s Flight is a calming minimalist game which simply aims to create a relaxing experience for all players. My goal with this 48-hour project was to produce a small and simple game that was well-polished, which I believe fits the somewhat personal theme of a journey. To help achieve these goals, I included a calming soundtrack, clean pixel art, smooth effects and an intuitive control scheme.

I competed solo in this particular game jam, and took it upon myself to create a game comprised of solely my own assets. I achieved this goal, so everything you see and hear in the game was created by myself! I opted to use the Construct 2 engine for this project to give me additional experience with it, as I am required to make use of it in an upcoming assignment. The game jam took place during 4th-6th November 2019.
